World Robot Olympiad (WRO) brings together young people from all over the world to develop their creativity, design and problem solving skills through challenging and educational robot competitions and activities. The international WRO final takes place once every year in November and teams qualify from national competitions to represent their countries. Costa Rica will host the finals for WRO 2017.
This year students are expected to come up with innovative solutions using robotics technology to create Sustainabots: Robots for sustainability. The Challenge is to make a robot that can help one company reach carbon neutrality. To accomplish this, the robot must install renewable energy sources, like solar panels, and plant trees to counterbalance the emissions from the industrial processes of the company.
To participate in WRO, teams must qualify their national rounds. In India, WRO 2017 is being jointly organized by India STEM Foundation and National Council of Science Museums (NCSM). To participate in WRO India students should form a team of 2 to 3 members. Teams can consists of students from same school or different schools. Students up to 25 years of age are eligible to participate in this Olympiad under different age categories.
